The Grand Hotel sits prominently on Swansea's High Street — one of the most visible and heavily trafficked locations in the city centre. When facade works were required, Trust Scaffolding was appointed to deliver the full access solution: a comprehensive scaffold wrapping the entire exterior of this large, historic building in the heart of Swansea.

The project was carried out in partnership with Great National Hotels, the group behind the Grand Hotel. Coordinating closely with hotel management was essential — the property remained fully open to guests throughout the works, meaning every stage of erection, active hire, and dismantling had to be planned around a live, operational hotel in a busy city centre environment.

Working on a licensed public street required formal local authority approval, including a street works licence and a loading gantry permit to allow safe material deliveries directly to the scaffold. Pedestrian fans, debris netting, and brick guards were installed from day one to protect the public below. Where possible, erection and dismantling was phased outside peak footfall hours to minimise disruption to the surrounding businesses and pedestrians on High Street.

Keeping a hotel fully operational while wrapping it in scaffold on one of Wales's busiest city streets is a different challenge to most commercial projects.
